Prepared Plastic Clay

 

MT Terra-cotta 1000°C-1180°C

     A smooth highly plastic  clay,firing to a rich red brown suitable for throwing and

     hand building.

MTG Grogged Terra-cotta 1000°C-1180°C

     Grogged version of  MT. Excellent for larger pots  and slab work.

M/SWE Ivory Earthenware 1040°C-1200°C

     A smooth plastic off whit body. Excellent for throwing also suitable for hand building.

MST Toasted stoneware 1140°C-1250°C

     A smooth highly plastic body incorporating a small  amount of red clay. Excellent

     for throwing;  fires to a warm toasted colour.

MS/LT Buff stoneware 1120°C-1280°C;

      Good general purpose stoneware body suitable for  throwing and casting. Suitable

     for earthenware or stoneware temperatures

MS/LTG Buff stoneware grogged 1120°C-1280°C

      A general purpose body based on plastic and refractory fireclays. Used widely in schools.

     It is a very versatile clay and can be used at low or high temperatures. Contains10% of

     a medium grog.

MS/HT High Temperature 1220°C-1280°C

     A smooth throwing clay of high plasticity. Also good for casting.

MS/HTG High Temperature grogged clay 1220°C-1280°C

      Grogged version of MS/HT containing 12.5% sand; suitable for throwing larger pieces.

MSS Speckled stoneware 1180°C-1280°C

     A fairly smooth, highly plastic body with good throwing properties. It fires to a

    speckled buff colour giving a reduced appearance.

MR Raku 980°C-1300°C

      A very course open body containing 40% 20's - 85's grog.

MSP Semi Porcelain 1140°C-1190°C

     A pure white semi-porcelain body produced mainly for casting but can be thrown

     with care.

MNP New Porcelain 1180°C-1250°C

     A new porcelain body, god for throwing and casting. Translucent as 1240°C

MWS White Stoneware 1220°C-1280°C

     An excellent throwing body giving a very clean fired cream colour in oxidation. Good 

     for tableware and enhances colour decoration. Reduces very will; pale grey with fine

     speckle reduction.

MWS/G Grogged white stoneware 1220°C-1280°C

     Grogged version of MWS for throwing large pieces. 7.5% sand grog added.

MTM T Material 1200°C-1300°C

     A highly grogged off white clay containing 40% molochite grog. Excellent resistance to

     warping and cracking. Can be used for any method of hand building and may be used as

     a mixer clay.

M/LTW Low temperature white earthenware 1060°C-1150°C

    A good earthenware body suitable for hand building and casting.

M/LTW Harry Fraser Porcelain 1220°C-1290°C

    A good strong translucent porcelain. Throws well and is consistent and reliable.

M/OST Oxidising St. Thomas Type 1250°C-1280°C

    A very popular stoneware body with excellent resilience and tolerance. Attractive

    speckling under normal or slightly reducing conditions. Throws and slabs well.

PCC Craft Crank 1170°C-1300°C

    Coarse textured open but plastic clay low shrinkage. For large items or sculpturing

MSR/G Stoneware reduction grogged 1220°C-1280°C

    A stoneware body specifically designed for reduction firing work. 10% grog added.

    Can be  used for throwing or handbuilding.

E/ST.HANB Earthstone Handbuilding clay E/S40 1200°C-1300°C

     A white stoneware/raku body with exceptional handling properties. Low shrinkage and

     good warp resistance make the clay ideal for sculptural and handbuilt pieces, tiles and

     ceramic murals etc.

E/ST.5% Earthstone original ES/5 1180°C-1280°C

    Quality white body with a wide maturing range. Extremely resistant to warping cracking

    and thermal shock. Can be used in oxidised or reduction firings. Ideal for throwing large

    or wide pieces. Also suitable for slabwork or handbuilding.

1145 White stoneware 1200°C-1300°C

     Superb, strong stoneware throwing body based on top quality porcelain china clay

     and ball clays with added flux for good 'ring'. Suitable for both large and small pieces.

1106 White St Thomas 1160°C-1300°C

     Pleasant colour under oxidisation or reduction. Its good handling properties and good

     resistance make it excellent for large as well as small pots. Good for large dishes.

Non Firing Clay

MNC  Newclay Non-Firing (air hardening)

      Self hardening clay. Containing very fine nylon fibres.

MHI Hardener used with Newclay. Successive coats give greater hardness.

Casting Slip

MECS Ivory Earthenware 1120°C-1160°C

     Calcium based Clay Slip.

MTCCS Red Earthenware 1000°C-1180°C

    A low firing Terra-cotta, firing to a rich red brown colour, darkening as the temperature

    is increased.

MSPCS  Semi Porcelain 1120°C-1190°C

    A Pure White semi-porcelain slip having high green strength.

MNPCS  New Porcelain slip 1200°C-1260°C

     A fine porcelain slip being translucent at 1240°C.

MSCS Stoneware 1230°C-1280°C

    A smooth casting slip firing to a buff colour at 1220° turning to grey/buff at higher

    temperatures.

MBCCS Bone China Slip 1210°C-1260°C

    A superb casting slip used to produce fine Bone China. It differs from other clays as the

    bisque firing is done at 1240°C - 1260°C and the glaze firing is done at 1020°C - 1060°C.
