UNDERGLAZES Designed for use beneath a glaze. Underglaze colours may be translucent or opaque. Their opacity determines the kind of looks you can create from deep solids to intriguing brushstroke designs and shading.

E-Z Stroke Translucent Underglazes have become popular for their versatility. The intense pigment in E-Z Strokes colours allows you to achieve high definition and decoration in any project. And their translucent quality makes them suitable for use with a number of decorating techniques, including airbrushing, antiquing and brushwork. Similar to watercolour, a single layer of colour is all you need for most design work. Additional layers may be added for shading and depth.

BASIC INSTRUCTIONS

1. Apply 1 coat for translucent designs.

2. For rich shading and depth, apply additional coats.

3. Apply to greenware, unfired glaze, soft-fired bisque or cone 04 bisque.

4. Fire to shelf cone 04 bisque.

5. Apply Clear Glaze, stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.

TIPS & TECHNIQUES

• E-Z Strokes may be applied over most underglazes, including Cover-Coat® and other E-Z Strokes colours. Their transparency allows base colour to show through.

• E-Z Strokes work well with low- and high-fire, up to a cone 5-6 and some to cone 10.

• As high-fire results vary, we recommend firing a test piece.

• For majolica, apply E-Z Strokes design work over unfired White Satin Glaze.

• Pure and pigment-based E-Z Strokes can be used just like watercolours, alone or intermixed in layers of translucent, bold, pure colour.

• E-Z Strokes are fragile when unfired. When the water dries out of the pigment, there are no binders holding it in place until it is fired.

• Use E-Z Strokes to tint clay slip, most glazes, fired snow and other E-Z Strokes colours.

• High definition and detail can be achieved by adding water to E-Z

Strokes color and using a very fine brush.
